Mark Waier
Mark Waier is an independent communications and business development consultant with a focus on the transportation sector in Southern California.
Prior to this role, Mark was the CEO of an independently held Real Estate Investment Trust, Spectrum REIT, with global assets over $200 million. In that role, Mark was responsible for contractor management, lease negotiations, budget development, marketing/advertising and tenant relations. Mark executed multiple multi-million dollar leases and grew revenues.
Mark was formerly the Director of Communications for the Landside Access Modernization Program (LAMP) at LAX. LAMP is a $5.5 billion project that is designed to reduce vehicle trips in and around LAX by improving access to the terminal area. Mark created a comprehensive communications plan that detailed complaint and inquiry management, identified communication tactics and objectives, community outreach strategies and crisis communications protocols, defined primary and secondary audiences, defined team member roles, established branding and provided a framework for contractor communications to be routed and approved in a timely manner. LAMP is the largest Public Private Partnership in the state of California and the largest capital investment project in the City of Los Angeles.
Prior to joining LAX, Mark served as Department Manager of Marketing and Director of Mobile Ticketing for Metrolink. Mark also worked with the Metro Office of Extraordinary Innovation on a partnership with Uber/Lyft to solve first and last mile challenges. Mark also partnered with Metro Express Lanes to cross-promote utilization of Metrolink as an alternative to driving by offering express lane users free Metrolink mobile tickets as a reward for being a Metro Express Lane user. Mark guided the redesign of the agency’s website and implemented new media digital tactics which led the agency to have the highest social media following of any public transit agency in the United States, and, using targeted marketing tactics, he was able to garner the highest mobile ticketing adoption rate of any agency in the country.
Previously, Mark served as the Director of Government and Community Affairs for Loyola Marymount University where he also earned his Bachelor’s degree. Mark has a Juris Doctorate from Loyola Law School.
